What is it like to road trip in a $750k Ferrari Daytona?

Working once again with Tomini Classics, Private Motor Club and Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority, the PureDrive team undertook a project that was just as much about passion as it was business.

A trip was planned that would see PureDrive Director, Theo Measures and Tomini’s Head of Classics Division, Assyl Yacine – setting off at 3am from the company’s showroom on Umm Suqeim Road in Dubai in a beautiful 1973 Ferrari Daytona worth around $750,000. The next 110km were to make quite an impression on Theo, who realised quickly that this was fast becoming one of the most sensational motoring experiences of his life.

The PureDrive team met Tim Hutton, the founder of Private Motor Club magazine in early March 2017, during his annual automotive-scene-appraisal visit to the United Arab Emirates. Prior to his visit, PureDrive had been introduced to Tim through a mutual contact, car photographer and all round good chap, Rob Overy. Tim was in need of assistance in sourcing the perfect car and location in which to shoot a PMC feature film, capture some great stills and ultimately write a unique feature for the magazine.

Supercar Driver Magazine article

For their March 2017 issue, Supercar Driver magazine asked PureDrive Director Matt Croucher to write an account of the company’s tyre shredding week of fun with Oli Webb & Mr JWW back in January. Supplemented with stunning photography by Riad Ariane, Supercar Driver’s in-house photographer, the article covered one of the PureDrive team’s favourite driving roads in the world, Jais Mountain road in Ras Al Khaimah.

About an hour’s drive from Dubai International Airport, at the Northern tip of the United Arab Emirates lies an utterly sublime destination, called Ras Al Khaimah. With its 5-star hotels, white sandy beaches and numerous tourist activities, you can understand why this place is growing rapidly as a tourist destination. At greater interest to us however, Ras Al Khaimah also boasts one of the best, if not the best stretches of asphalt perfection in the world.
